They prevent us from seeing the entirety of a person or situation. Rather, we use the data we gather as information to make decisions moving forward. No need for labels.
No one owes us anything
Outside of an explicitly stated agreement, people don't owe us anything.
Offense requires that we look inward for understanding
Our job is to figure out what hurt so badly and why? This allows us to GRO (get rid of offense) and to focus on ourselves.
Should prevents doing what we would do if left to our own guiding principles
Should places pressure on us to act from external stimuli and leaves us more susceptible to stress and regret. Taking time to ensure that your actions match your intentions for your why is critical.
Mental chatter makes up stories
These stories are often negative and do not come true. Taming our mental chatter is critical for our fulfillment.
Comparison truly is the thief of joy
Comparison need only to be made against our own standards, priorities and values.
Expectations are stories we make up based upon the mental chatter we have in our minds.
It benefits us to do the best we can to achieve the outcomes we want and then let go.
Identifying our core values and establishing our standards are critical
They help us to navigate our inner validation and feedback mechanism that allows us to shut out external approval or lack thereof.
We are responsible for our own emotions.
While the actions of others may elicit certain emotions within us, we are responsible for understanding and resolving them.
